At the 5th Green Economy Forum, speakers emphasized that governance remains one of the main challenges of Portugal’s green transition. Prof. Maria João Guedes (POWER Coordinator) noted that, despite good practices, there is still a gap between what companies report and what they actually implement. She stressed the need for stronger board-level commitment, clear ESG metrics, and defined accountability. She also highlighted that 70% of people do not know what ESG means, exposing a literacy gap that hinders sustainable progress.
